The National Accreditation Council (NAAC) is an autonomous body established by the University Grants Commission (UGC) to assess and accredit Higher Educational Institutions in India. Gurukul College of Commerce applied for its First cycle in March and the team visited the campus on 17h and 18th August 2017. The team comprised of Prof. Bhatnagar B. P. (Chairperson), Dr. U Subba Rao (Member Co-ordinator) and Dr. Sanjoy Roy (Member).
The Peer team visited the campus on the first day i.e. 17th August 2017. The team was given a warm welcome by the Management, Principal, Vice-Principal and the IQAC Co-ordinator. The schedule was prepared and followed accordingly. The day started with the Powerpoint Presentations by the Principal followed by each of the Five Departments: Commerce and Allied Subjects, Accountancy, Economics, Accounting and Finance and Banking and Insurance. The Peer team interacted with the members of the IQAC. External experts of the IQAC Prof Venkataramni K and Dr. Parvathi Venkatesh rendered utmost support to the college. The Peer team visited the Library and Cyber Library where the Librarian presented the facilities rendered by the Library.
After the Presentations, the Peer team headed for lunch with the members of Management. The interaction with the members of the Management enabled the Peer team to understand the future plans and activities of the trust towards the institution. The Peer team then visited the facilities of the college namely, the ICT enabled classrooms, IT Laboratories, Activity area, Gymnasium, Auditorium, Compost pit built at the Campus, Extension Units, Placement Cell, Women Development Cell, Audio Visual Room etc. Students exhibited 3D models prepared by them which was appreciated by the NAAC peer team.
Presentations by the Placement Cell and Extension Units (NSS and DLLE) were given by the faculty concerned. Followed by this, the Peer team interacted with the Parents and Alumni. The stakeholders indeed gave an overwhelming feedback about the college.
Dr. Ajay Bhamare (Principal, DAV College and Chairperson, BOS Commerce) visited the college on behalf of the University. Later, a cultural Programme was hosted for the NAAC team. Students performed well and the programme was appreciated by the Chairperson of the NAAC peer team.
The Second day started with an interaction with the Non-Teaching staff followed by checking Documentary evidences. Post Lunch the team prepared their Report and had a discussion about the same with the Principal, Vice-Principal and IQAC Co-ordinator. The Exit meeting was arranged in the Auditorium. The Chairperson briefed the gathering and appreciated the students, stakeholders, staff and the Management for their efforts and enthusiasm. The report was handed over to the Principal and the Exit meeting ended with a vote of thanks.
